Arrest Saraki now group to IGP

Senate President, Bukola Saraki
The Foundation against Fraud, Indiscipline and Corruption, FAFIC, has condemned Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki for not appearing before the Code of Conduct Tribunal if he had nothing to hide.
This is as the anti graft organization accused the number three citizen of ‘applying every trick in the book’ to delay the wheels of justice.
In a strong worded statement issued in Abuja, the federal capital of the West African country, yesterday, National Coordinator of the group, Dr Uche Diala urged the Inspector General of Police, his men and other relevant security agencies to go all out to arrest the senate president.
“We view with utmost dismay and totally condemn the failure of distinguished Senator Bukola Saraki to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal sitting in Abuja. This is after he was duly served with a notice to that effect.
We consider this a serious act of indiscipline especially in view of the exalted office that he occupies as the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
We expect him to live by example. The reasons advanced by the Senate President are unacceptable and cannot stand any serious legal scrutiny. As an organization, we have always maintained that every individual is innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
However, a situation where an individual no matter how highly placed, applies every trick in the book to either thwart or delay the course of justice is both unacceptable and condemnable. We therefore urge the Inspector General of Police, the Nigerian Police and other relevant security agencies to ensure that the order of the tribunal is carried out”, the group said.
The anti graft non governmental organization however appealed to the Judiciary to live up to their name as the last resort for the common man and ensure that all corruption related cases are handled expeditiously and in an impartial manner.
FAFIC, while restating their commitment and support in the present administration’s war against corruption, further called on the media to ensure an accurate, objective and balanced reportage of events.
“We also appeal to the judiciary in general to live up to their biling as the last hope of the common man and ensure that this case is as well as other cases of corruption across the nation are expeditiously and fairly handled.
Justice should not only be done but it should also be seen as to be done. Finally we call on the media to ensure fair, objective, balanced and accurate reportage of matters relating to corruption.
We restate our resolve to support the on going war against corruption. The group and indeed all well meaning Nigerians shall resist any attempt by an individual or group of individuals to derail it”, the group said.
